Job Description

Pyxant Labs is currently seeking an experienced chemist to support GLP analytical studies. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in a technical field and a minimum of three years industrial, academic or regulatory agency experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following specialized knowledge and skills are highly desired for this position:

  • Experience using, maintaining, and troubleshooting AB Sciex mass spectrometers and Analyst software platform.
  • Deep understanding of the separation sciences and sample preparation, familiarity with such techniques as; HPLC, UPLC, SPE, and liquid-liquid extractions.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills utilized to author SOPs, technical reports and to present scientific posters/presentations.
  • Ability to mentor and train less experienced staff.
  • Responsive to unscheduled deadlines, client needs, and crises without neglecting other duties.
  • Experience with GLP regulations is a plus.
  • Grade level and pay will be commensurate with experience.

Job Description

We are seeking to hire a High Resolution Mass Spectrometrist. This individual will be in charge of providing scientific expertise and direction to the HRMS team at Pyxant Labs.

Responsibilities

The following specialized knowledge and skills are highly desired for this position:

  • Serve as primary contact for non-regulated and regulated bioanalytical efforts utilizing HRMS platform(s).
  • Contributes to preparation of relevant SOPs, forms and training material.
  • Qualify and validate MS-based clinical biomarker assays through partnership with selected external collaborators to support clinical development and clinical diagnostics programs.
  • Assume primary role in outlining internal experimental protocols and approaches to address key bioanalytical needs to support HRMS programs.
  • Interpret complex data sets and communicate results to other scientists and project teams.
  • Teach and mentor staff involved with HRMS.

Requirements

  • M.S. or preferably Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics, or related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of biotech/pharmaceutical drug discovery and development experience; or BS/MS with 10+ years of experience.
  • Expertise in small molecule/biomarker bioanalysis and related regulatory assay validation guidance; experience with biomarker bioanalysis in clinical development highly desirable.
  • Laboratory HRMS and LC-MS/MS experience quantifying drug(s) or biomarker(s) in biological matrices, with extensive knowledge of key MS instrumentation employed in bioanalysis.
  • Excellent critical thinking and scientific skills, with a demonstrated ability to produce, interpret, and communicate complex bioanalytical data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with other scientists on cross-functional projects teams.
  • Excellent oral presentation and written communication skills.
